BREAKING: Anton Rodin recalled from Utica

NHL: Preseason-Vancouver Canucks at Calgary FlamesAnton Rodin is getting an opportunity to show if he’s got what it takes to cut the mustard in the big show. The former player of the year in the Swedish Elite League has been recalled from Utica and could slot into the line-up tonight against big Ben Bishop and the Dallas Stars.

This is starting to feel like we’re wading into “last chance” territory as Rodin’s transition to the North American game has been underwhelming to say the least. In the former 2nd rounder’s defense, he has been plagued with injuries since joining the team last season, so it suffices to say that Canuck fans have yet to see what the speedy forward is capable of.

Rodin joined the Canucks after scoring 37 points in 33 games in the SweHL with high expectations that failed to pan-out.

No confirmation yet of whether or not he will dress tonight or what line he might find himself on, but I would speculate that with Sam Gagner filling in for an injured Brock Boeser – expect Rodin to join up with Alex Burmistrov and Tomas Vanek.
